Seonai's death was entirely preventable; I got to know her almost 4 years ago exactly, when she lived in London and called me for advice because she had such a huge cavatiy in her lungs and her treatment did not seem to be helping; also the specialist she was under in South-East London was not seeming very concerned. I spoke to Dr Noel Snell, a TB Alert Trustee, who arranged for her to be referred to a colleague of his at The Brompton. Unfortunately, by this time, her TB was very advanced, she had only 25% lung function and was coughing up a freezer bag full of very nasty coloured sputum every day. Seonai and I spoke very often throughout her illness, sometimes several times a day. I remember when she was living in South-East London, discharged from hospital in a very weak state and I would ring her to cajole her into leaving her flat, crossing the street and going into Sainsburys; we'd quite often do a slow speed tour of the supermarket until she found something she could actually face eating. We finally got to meet after about two and a half years of telephone calls, by which time we'd become firm friends and she knew as much about my life as I did hers. I was so happy to be at her birthday party last November and finally meet Ziyo, as well of some of her other friends. It was a lovely evening. Unfortunately, since then, I have also been unwell, so we had to revert to telephone contact and texts again. I will be going to say my personal goodbyeson Thurday at the funeral directors. She brought so much into my life and was an inspiring woman. I miss you darling. Txxx
